• A Party Built on Basic Democratic Principles

    Serving the communities...

  • ABOUT US

    The National Unity Party (NUP) was conceived and founded in the year 2018 and officially registered as a political party on Monday 5th October 2020. The National Unity Party (NUP) as an organization is anchored on the principle that party leaders come and go after serving their full terms (i.e. no more than two elections in opposition) but the party remains.
    - Considering the need to unite all the people of The Gambia, irrespective of political, racial, religious and tribal affiliations; the need to curb the rise of corruption, and the need to improve the standard of living for all Gambians;
    - Believing in basic progressive democratic principles and determined to transform the political dynamics into a modern collective ideology whilst ushering in new hope for the Gambian people;
    - Mindful of the fact that right policies are required to build and achieve a progressive and fair democratic system in The Gambia which will only be seen to be working if all Gambians can bring themselves to a common good for the development of the country;
    - Recognizing the relevance to implement change that will be focused on the “essential socio-economic transformations which will address National Security, poverty, youth unemployment, health, food security, literacy and inequality”;
    - Convinced that for an equitable and fair distribution of the nation’s resources to be achieved, serious sectoral development across all the regions of the country must take place whilst ensuring that there is rapid economic growth aimed at poverty reduction and sustainable livelihood through robust economic regeneration schemes;
    - Desirous to break all types of behavior pertaining to religious discrimination, gender inequality, ethnic disharmony, insensitivity to disability and other forms of discrimination as well as to provide security for all Gambians to live in peace and harmony and enjoy their inalienable rights;
    NUP has emerged as a party with a difference and with the aim of moving the Gambia from a developing to a middle-income country within five years.

    The key organs of the party include a National Executive Committee, Regional Executive Committees, Constituency Executive Committees, Ward Executive Committees, Finance Committee, Disciplinary Committee and Fund Raising Committee to name a few.

  • Testimonials from Our Executive Committee Members...

    "When we started this journey, we were supported and rejected by many - but it never occurred to us to join the ruling party, even though they experienced the euphoria of winning the 2016 elections.

    Creating NUP was the best thing we have done as we realized that it is possible to make a difference. In the past few years we have learnt that politics is not just about grand causes, but also working in communities with people to help make their lives better in very concrete ways."

    Adama Manjang, NUP National Campaign Chair

    "Our political candidates are visionaries with the right ideologies required to build and achieve a progressive and fair democratic system in The Gambia.

    NUP believes that this can easily be achieved if all Gambians can bring themselves to a common good for development of the country.

    After the second wave of change which saw the end of the second republic in The Gambia, it is about time we implement a third phase of change that will be focused on the 'essential social-economic transformation which will address poverty, youth employment, health, literacy and inequality."

    Ousman Jammeh, NUP Chair

    "When Gambians wake up to appreciate the ideals and leadership of NUP, a full scale political Tsunami will be realized within the overall political machinery in The Gambia!"
